after Dance with the Captain, the interesting Sunday, 11 August at the Stari Grad Museum continues with the screening of the film Forska zima (engl. Hvar winter) at 9.30pm, filmed as the final presentation of the film and drama educational process of the project Action on the Island or What You Will.
The project, co-financed by the European Social Fund, started in April 2018. During the 14 months of the project, young people on the island listened to lectures, attended acting, recording, editing, sound, dramaturgy and drama literature workshops. After the education, the majority continued to participate in the programme with the intention of presenting the experience they gained. The final presentation or film Forska zima is set according to the motives of William Shakespeare’s comedy Twelfth Night, or What You Will, as the author sets his play in Illyria, which includes the island of Hvar. The original text was translated into a dialect of the region, dramaturgically adapted and updated.
With this form of education and the involvement of young people during the winter on the island, we were able to introduce them to a dramatic text that they would probably not read in the standard school curriculum, and we made the winter warmer and more interesting. Srđan Sorić, the lead and responsible creator of the project, will speak about his experience in implementing the project, island’s winter as well as the possible continuation of this laudable initiative.
Srđan Sorić graduated from the AMU in Prague in 1988 where he specialised in mime and physical theatre. After moving to the UK, his acting engagements include appearances in theatre, television, film, and radio.
