The 8th Coordination Meeting of the network of countries with Mediterranean Diet inscribed on the UNESCO Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity will be held in Stari Grad on 6 and 7 June 2018.
Seven Mediterranean countries with their emblematic communities – Cyprus (Agros), Greece (Koroni), Croatia (Brač and Hvar), Italy (Cilento), Morocco (Chefchaouen), Portugal (Tavira) and Spain (Soria) have inscribed in 2013 the Mediterranean diet on the UNESCO Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. The involved countries have committed themselves to joint initiatives with their representative communities to preserve and disseminate knowledge of the common heritage of the Mediterranean diet and to this end, organise annual coordination meetings to review the activities and propose new initiatives.
The first day of the coordination meeting, which is open to the public, is reserved to presentations of the most significant activities related to the preservation of the intangible heritage of the Mediterranean diet of all seven countries. Croatian activities will be presented by Mrs. Silvija Pavičić from Stari Grad, based on reports from Brač and Hvar and other collected data. We hereby invite you to join us at the Stari Grad Town Library and Reading Room, on Wednesday, 6 June starting at 9.30h.
The meeting is held in the European Year of Cultural Heritage and as part of the Croatian coordination of the network of seven Mediterranean diet countries, organised by the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Croatia and the municipalities of Stari Grad, Hvar and Jelsa.
