Stari Grad Museum, in cooperation with the Stari Grad Municipality, during the three days, from 8 to 10 June 2018, marks the 450th anniversary of the first edition of Fishing and Fishermen’s Conversations by Petar Hektorović.
Fishing and Fishermen’s Conversations was printed by Hektorović in 1568 in Venice at the famous printer and cartographer Gioanfrancesco Camoti. It was written in his Tvrdalj Castle in Stari Grad and completed, as Hektorović cites, on 14 January 1556.
Since then, this book has had numerous editions and translations in foreign languages. It is considered one of the most important works of Croatian Renaissance literature.
The three-day programme will take place for three nights in Tvrdalj Castle, and on Saturday morning in the Stari Grad Town Library and Reading Room conversations will take place about Hektorović and his work, between scientists, researchers and artists to whom Hektorović is close and who know his work well.
