Dear friends and visitors,
Stari Grad Museum invites you to celebrate the 55th anniversary of the Helios Hotels on the terrace of the (former) Helios restaurant on Monday, 26 August 2019, starting at 8pm.
The first modern touristification of Stari Grad begins in 1964 when new hotel pavilions and the Helios Restaurant are built. The mythical place of tourist folklore, the summer terrace of Helios Restaurant, although long neglected, still holds great significance in the collective memory of locals and guests. Since 2019, the Helios Hotels complex is under new management, announcing the repositioning towards the premium offer, and investing hundreds of millions of kunas in its renovation and construction of the largest resort in Croatia. In anticipation of the new rebranding of Helios, we commemorate the local tourism building with projections of illustrations from official tourist and private family archives.
The event will be accompanied by live music and a reception. We invite everyone interested to join us in collecting memories of Helios and to bring their Helios memorabilia, which we will document on the spot.
