Through four decades of creativity Marin builds an opus that represents a chronicle of the island. Each phase of his work car¬ries a specific aesthetic and theoretical logic, but all together form a consistent story about art as a space of hybridity, irony and fragmentation. All the phases are connected by intertextual logic: Marin’s work is never closed in on itself, but opens toward other texts, political, historical, insular, artistic. What makes him specific is precisely the island post-modernism: the ability to transform Hvar, with its light, tradition and contradictions into a prism for interpreting world so¬cial politics and contemporary culture. Marin’s art thus does not belong only to one school or one generation. It is frag¬mentary, hybrid, and polyphonic, like the island itself, which is at once a postcard and a critique of the postcard, a space of beauty and irony.
