Zdenko Ricijaš is known on the Croatian scene as one of the most important nostalgic artists. Moving between an evocative and surrealist style, the painter Ricijaš has developed a subtle treatment of the surface in which he masterfully uses the effects of light that develop around the pictorial spread. After a phase of associative, or lyrical abstraction, art informel and abstract expressionism, Ricijaš’s painting for a time leans towards figurative concepts without losing any of the essential marks of his personal style and style. Today, Ricijaš reduces objects to almost geometric shapes. His composition is strict, and the space is built from elementary forms.
