Visual storytelling workshop with Stratis Vogiatzis

Stari Grad Museum working in partnership with Proja.org/MED Land project and Stratis Vogiatzis is pleased to announce and invite applications for a workshop on visual storytelling through the medium of photography and filmmaking. The workshop is aimed at photographers and filmmakers with an understanding of visual practice who are interested in creative storytelling and looking to move forward regarding the medium they use.

Running from 27 to 30 March 2018 and based at Stari Grad Museum, Stari Grad, island Hvar, the workshop will bring together up to twelve interested participants for four days of intensive, participatory process of learning and practice.

The workshop will give the participants a chance to initiate themselves in the world of visual storytelling through the medium of photography and filmmaking. Participants will learn and practice how to make a research, how to document and narrate a story and how to edit their story and present/pitch it at the end. The purpose of this workshop is to help the participants find their own form of personal expression and to push the boundaries of the conventional storytelling by employing different forms and techniques in photography and video..

The workshop will be led by Stratis Vogiatzis, a photographer, filmmaker and an anthropologist. He has worked in more than 30 countries in assignments and creative projects as a photographer and filmmaker. He has published several books and he exhibits regularly worldwide.

He initiated the Caravan Project, a long term journey around Greece that aims to document and reveal inspiring personal stories.


The deadline for submitting applications is 12 March 2018.
