We invite you to the opening of the exhibition Jadranka Fatur – Selection of works 1972-2016 on Monday, 1 August at 9pm in the Juraj Plančić Gallery of Stari Grad Museum. The exhibition will run until the end of August.
From the introduction to the exhibition catalogue (Tonko Maroević):
Although the family name doesn’t imply it, through her origin and work Jadranka Fatur is largely related to the island Hvar, the Stari Grad area, especially to her Rudina where she spent many memorable moments and experienced important formative experiences. This emotional heritage and stratification of primeval life she honoured as a writer, publishing three books inspired by Rudina ambiances and people, and by preparing the fourth, the most complex one, which is still waiting for the publisher, and certainly deserves attention.
However, Jadranka Fatur is first and foremost the academic painter, with well-deserved recognition. She didn’t exhibit too often – twenty solo exhibitions in over four decades of work (even with one full decade of pause) – but on the collective, panoramic, anthological and representative exhibitions at home and abroad she acquired considerable fame and status. Due to the achieved level and the meaning of her works she was invited in 2004 as an assistant professor at the Zagreb Academy of Fine Arts, where she successfully spent part of her career. Some achievements of her pedagogical work she invested in the book of meditative essays “Orpheus and metamorphoses”.
By choosing her works in various techniques and from various periods Jadranka Fatur addresses Stari Grad audience as a mature personality with the historical role and the fresh confirmation of the latest, current artistic tendencies.
We look forward to your visit!
